- MNCTA Winter Convention & Trade Show is held the first weekend in March. Next year it is March 5 & 6. The 2010 show will be at the Black Bear Casino, 1785 Hwy 210, Carlton, MN 55718. This two day event covers many aspects of growing trees, from planting the correct species to marketing them to consumers. The two days are packed with opportunities to learn the business of growing.
- Our National Representative is on hand to keep us aware what is happening at a national level.
- The Marketing Consultant at MN Grown keeps us updated on the advertising program we have through them.
- There is an endless opportunity to get involved with the organization, and at the same network with some of the best tree growers in the state.

Summer Field Days & Trade Show in July at MNCTA member’s farms,
a 2 day event.
- Conduct
on going research on exotic/new species of Christmas trees with
grant monies received from the USDA. The research evaluates numerous
species for their adaptability to Minnesota’s climate and their
suitability as Christmas trees.

Publish the Minnesota Christmas Tree Association’s NEWS magazine
3 times a year.

Provide members with subscriptions to Christmas Tree magazine
for a reduced rate.

Publish Choose and Cut Directories and distribute at the Christmas
tree booth and Minnesota Grown booth at the MN State Fair, DNR
Information Center, Explore Minnesota Tourism Centers throughout
the state and mailings from the MNCTA office.

Publish the Wholesale Buyers Guide and distribute at the State
Fair Christmas tree booth and mailings from the MNCTA office.

Publish Colorful Christmas Tree Brochures for use at Choose &
Cut farms and Retail lots.

Maintain the MNCTA Web site that includes lists of growers who
advertise in the MNCTA Choose & Cut Directory and Wholesale
Buyers Guide.

As part of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Minnesota
Grown program we:

Offer matching newspaper advertising funds to MNCTA members for
use in their local area.

Air radio spots on the environmental benefits of Real trees
versus artificial trees.

Participate in charitable programs with radio and television
stations by donating Christmas trees for the less fortunate.

Issue press releases.
-
Continue as member of the Minnesota Grown Promotion Group.
- Participate
in the National Christmas Tree Association’s (NCTA) activities
through our member elected representative.

Support the NCTA TIP Program.

Each MNCTA member receives a NCTA media kit.

MNCTA members have the opportunity to be listed on the NCTA
Choose & Cut, Retail, and/or Wholesale site.

Continue the tradition of sending Christmas trees to Minnesota
congressmen.

Enter trees and staff the Minnesota State Fair Christmas Tree
display.

Co-sponsor the Governor’s tree reception, MN State Fair winners
provide trees and wreaths for the Capital building and the Governor’s
Residence.

Work with media personnel to produce TV, radio, and newspaper
stories about real trees.
